CSI presents short courses that are hands-on, industry-specific and of which the content is in-house developed.
All courses are presented via facilitated e-learning, and upon successful completion receives Blockchain-based
digital certificates as well as hard copies from the academy partner, where applicable.


Some of the short courses are presented in partnership with local Universities such as the
Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) and the French South African Institute of Technology (F’SATI).

Professor Elmarie Biermann holds a PhD in Computer Security and brings a wealth of experience from both academic and private sectors. With an extensive list of international research and technical publications, she is recognised as a keynote speaker and a frequent expert panelist on topics including cyber-crime, cyber warfare, and cyber intelligence. Previously, she held an Adjunct Professorship at the French South African Institute of Technology, where she pioneered research in Security within the Nano-satellite environment. Professor Elmarie currently serves as an Extraordinary Associate Professor in the Department of Strategic Studies at Stellenbosch University.

Noëlle van der Waag-Cowling is a Strategy Consultant at CSI and serves as the Cyber Lead at the Security Institute for Governance and Leadership (SIGLA) at Stellenbosch University. With extensive experience in cyber strategy, cyber warfare, and state-level cybersecurity, she is also a member of the review board of the International Journal of Cyber Warfare and Terrorism and the Australia-Pacific Grey Zone Working Group. Noëlle has contributed her expertise to the Group of Global Experts to the International Committee of the Red Cross in Geneva, focusing on advising on the protection of civilians during cyber attacks. Passionate about tech innovation in Africa and enhancing cyber capacity on the Continent, she was recognised as one of the Top 50 Women in Cyber in Africa in 2020.

IT and Cyber Security Program

The IT and Cyber Security Program is a practical course consisting of coursework, virtual classes, and practical cyber range exercises.
